With the recent passing of Steve Jobs, we’ve lost one of our greatest visionaries and sources of inspiration. His pioneering genius helped launch the digital world we live in today.

Creating a passionate community.

Along with life-changing devices like the Mac II, the iPod family and the iPhone, he built a community. A community of Apple loyalists that reaches around the globe. And I’m proud to say I’m part of that community. (In fact, I’m typing this post on an iPad.)

Redesigning a more beautiful world.

I’m also part of a community of designers and artists who are grateful that Jobs dropped out of college and took a Calligraphy course. And in doing so, discovered the power of typography.

“I learned about serif and sans serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can’t capture, and I found it fascinating.”

With this knowledge, Jobs went on to create a library of typefaces and to help kick off the desktop publishing revolution.

Leaving a legacy.

Like the rest of the Apple community, we at the agency are saddened by the loss of Steve Jobs. But his words and actions continue to inspire us. And we continue to use the tools he dreamed up to create amazing work for our clients.

I know the world hasn’t heard the last from Steve Jobs. I can only imagine the great ideas he’s left for the next generation of Apple developers on his iPad.
