What do you get when you cross a comedy video website and the President of the United States? 40% increased traffic on Healthcare.gov.

If you haven’t seen it yet, President Obama made a surprise visit on the popular Funny or Die series Between Two Ferns, hosted by Zach Galifianakis. The video was created in an effort to attract younger people to enroll in the Marketplace.

Though the video has received mixed “creative” reviews, the results are hard to ignore: it racked up over a million views in the first three hours, and now has over 11 million, Healthcare.gov visits increased 40% from the prior day, and Funny Or Die was slated as the #1 source of referrals to the Healthcare website.

In a world where we’re all focused on content marketing, blogs will remain the bread and butter, but content can come in many forms, even a lighthearted video that people will enjoy watching (and sharing).
