A member of EVR’s Media Group (EVRMG), the Broadcast Media Buyer plays an integral role in strategizing, developing and booking broadcast media planning activities for our growing client base. To be successful in this role, the optimal candidate will possess strong collaboration and planning skills, with an ability to integrate and activate multiple teams across the agency. Must be familiar with all broadcast media types including radio, TV, print, out of home and sponsorships. This position requires communication skills, an analytical mindset and ability to multitask in a fast-paced agency environment.

Broadcast Media Planning & Buying

  • Research and determine the best media mix for a diverse set of client accounts, all with various audiences, targeting requirements and goals
  • Conduct foundational research to understand audiences, markets, latest trends, media vendors, etc.
  • Collaborate with Account Staff and Media Group to outline media briefs, media plans and potential KPIs
  • Plan all strategy, media rationale and channel selection for traditional and broadcast channels
  • Input media buys into media planning software
  • Build long-term relationships with media reps and negotiate media contracts to close competitive deals
  • Participate in client-facing presentations, pitches and delivery of strategy/plans
  • Assist in the development and production of proposals and pitches alongside leadership
  • Optimize advertising strategies for varying audiences and channels on an ongoing basis
  • Design and review advertising budgets in collaboration with Account Staff and Media Group
  • Stay up to date on the latest inventory in client markets with a general understanding of media costs

Broadcast Leadership

  • Be a leader for broadcast media strategy, helping to influence and better team members as we raise the bar of agency broadcast media knowledge. Share ideas, connect team members as opportunities arise and meet unspoken needs
  • Be a go-to person in the agency for all broadcast and traditional media
  • Work closely with the Media Traffic Coordinator and Media Coordinator on their professional development and ongoing education of all things broadcast media
  • Connect internal EVR teams based on opportunities for collaboration that will deliver a better result
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with the Media Group’s Digital Team in order to visualize the campaign as a whole and connect traditional and digital media
  • Get support from the Media Traffic Coordinator and Media Coordinator based on specific needs and expertise
  • Maintain a high level of quality and be an advocate for pushing the envelope
  • Play a role in media-planning brainstorms to help connect broadcast, digital and creative strategies
  • Be a resource for Account Staff and client inquiries into campaign performance/reporting
  • Participation in EVRMG meetings and department strategy sessions

Professional Development

  • Continue growing as an agency media professional through education, stretching skill sets, celebrating successes and learning from mistakes
  • Understand how the agency makes money and contribute to profitability through good business management
  • Network, connect and be a positive advocate for the agency in the community
  • Work closely with the Media Group’s Digital Team to learn tradigital media channels such as digital audio, OTT, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communication or similar field
  • Proven work experience as a Broadcast Media Buyer, Traditional Media Buyer, Media Planner or similar role
  • Expertise in broadcast media or traditional media, including planning, buying and negotiation
  • General knowledge of all different types of media channels and how they work together
  • Remains calm working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven agency environment
  • Strong budget planning skills and ability to manage and combine data
  • Demonstrable experience with building effective advertising campaigns
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Must possess a strong self-development sense, fostering personal growth as well as employee growth
  • Self-starter, with a strong willingness to see projects through from start to completion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation skills
